“Sojourner Truth Speak”
Alice McGill re-creates the life of Sojourner Truth based on Truth’s narratives regarding the abolition of slavery, women’s rights, “the feel of freedom,” her Book of Life, and motherhood.

McGill’s well-known performance illustrates that Sojourner Truth, born Isabella Bom’free, circa 1797, has worked tirelessly, for over forty years, to attain basic human rights for others. In a remarkable transformation created by McGill’s theatrical ability, the 83-year-old Sojourner comes to life. Audiences will hear the penetrating voice of Sojourner, speaking in a rich, Dutch accent…filling a New England Hall.

Venues: theaters, libraries, museums, colleges, universities, schools, and and humanity councils.

Songs and Tales of African American Folklore
